“When A Tiger Came to Tea” Birthday Party Details:
“For this first birthday party during lock down, we wanted to go with something intimate and totally traditional and British. So, what better way to celebrate than with Afternoon Tea? The birthday girl’s middle name is Tigerlily so we also had party theme inspiration from the book ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ by Judith Kerr. It was also only just recently the 50th Anniversary of the book, so the party was well-timed.
For the table, we wanted to mimic the table set up in the book, keeping the colours fairly soft and girly against the bright orange of the tiger. We had pastel plates and napkins. Inspiration from the Milkman in the book gave us the idea to use Milk Bottles filled with orange juice topped with party rings around the tiger themes straws.
The same white tea cups with blue stars and a simple white cake with red frosting just like the book, topped with a cute tiger who wore a pretty cool party hat, and we can’t forget the Jam Sandwiches. The cookies were hand painted with the tiger’s face and two scenes from the story by @Claireowencakes
Each child got to be a tiger who came to tea and had their own tiger ears and tail costume.
For activities, the children had themed colouring and activity sheets and a hand drawn pin the tail on the tiger game by Billie Cadogan an Illustrator.”
